WEIMARANER IN BRAZIL |
|
The first Weimaraners arrived in Brazil in 1952, imported by Roland S Blinstrup. Known as Mr Blitz, he was the founder of the first Weimaraner kennel in Brazil - Blitz Vymar The first two Weimaraner litters were born in 1953. Blinstrup in the following years, gave the breed a great impulse, importing from the USA and Germany, always concerned in getting animals true to the beauty of its standard and the hunting qualities of the breed. A little later, also in 1953, Prof João Moojen de Oliveira also imported Weimaraners from the USA and Germany, registring his kennel - Von Schlossgehege - in Rio de Janeiro. In the 60s two kennels are registered - Itatiaia and Sumaré - Due to the poor breeding technique applied these years, the breed faced a decline in quality, its destiny becoming nebulous and would have been lost if not in the beginning of the 70s a new explosion of enthusiasm for the breed had occured. |

New breeders are seen - Nobiskrug , Canto de Pedra, Recreio, Xapanã, Arcobaleno and Blue-Chips in Rio de Janeiro. In São Paulo the kennels Pia-Çui, Cap Ferrat, Portal Marron and Brisk are registered. And in Minas Gerais we have Shalfleets and Champson.
All these breeders appear in the second half of the 70s until the 80s. In the 90s we have in Porto Alegre - Wolfs Hunter and in Florianopolis Aller Letzte. With the splitting of the dogworld system in Brazil in 1991, the Weimaraner Club, created as a follow up of the Breed Department, faces a period of very little activity and the Nucleo de Criadores da Raça Weimaraner appears in Florianopolis. The Weimaraner Club no longer being active, only the Nobiskrug kennel continues its breeding program, while all other kennels that appeared with the foundation of the club, finish their activities in the Weimaraner breed. Some new kennels appear, such as Juscanis, Champions Line, Weimars Valley, Von Wurzius, Soul Coast and Blazehill and also show good results in the showring.
Still in the 90s, the Nobiskrug kennel imports both stud dogs and brood bitches from the USA and the products of these imports can today be found in all Weimaraner pedigrees both in Brazil and South America. |

The Florianópolis Núcleo no longer being active, Porto Alegre comes up with the Núcleo Gaucho da Raça Weimaraner. This group through the Internet promotes the breed both in Brazil and abroad. Importing more studdogs at the end of the XXth Century and beginning of the XXIst Century, the Nobiskrug kennel establishes its leadership in breeding Weimaraners in Brazil and South America, its products achieving the highest goals in breeding and showing with innumerous BIS and BISS descending of these imports, various animals in other kennels also reach the highest wins, such as Juscanis, Champion's Line and Soul Coast. |
In the beginning of the XXIst Century we see the Weimaraner breed on a very high level of quality with excellent results in the showring. A massive number of high quality animals was seen at the World Dog Show in Rio de Janeiro in 2004,
topping off with the most significant winnings of the Nobiskrug dogs - JWW dog - JWW bitch - WW dog - BOB - Grp 3rd.
Right after the World Show, Nobiskrug kennel exported 2 of its dogs to Scandinavia to Mimmtrix Kenenl of Mimmi Erixon
In 2005 Nobiskrug continues to expand abroad exporting to Finland, Germany, Poland, Croatia and Belgium and importing from Sweden, broadening the genepool of its breeding program

In 2006 Nobiskrug further exports dogs to Austria and Croatia and from Poland our export is transferred to France. Significant results are obtained by our exports topping off with a JWW06, BOB and BIG in Croatia and BOB in Sweden. In Brazil Nobiskrug classifies as Best Breeder of the Year
